신입생 오리엔테이션(OT), 우리말로 새내기새로배움터(이하 새터)라 불리는 2월 대학가 행사에서 최고의 인기를 구가하는 아티스트는 누굴까?
힙합듀오 긱스(릴보이·루이)가 새학기를 맞아 각 대학에서 진행되는 새터에서 쏟아지는 러브콜을 받고 행복한 비명을 지르고 있다.
이들은 가요계에 정식으로 데뷔해 활발한 방송 활동을 펼치지는 않았지만, 발표한 음악이 현재까지도 음원 차트 상위권에 랭크 돼 있을 만큼 놀라운 장기 히트를 기록 중이다.
또 특유의 풋풋하고 긍정적인 이미지가 젊은 연령층에 어필하며 대학 새터 행사 섭외가 쇄도하고 있다.
정식 데뷔 전부터 행사 섭외가 쇄도하는 것은 해당 분야에서도 이례적인 현상으로 볼 수 있는데, 긱스는 앞으로 서울, 대전, 부산을 비롯한 전국 각지를 방문해 공연을 펼칠 계획이다.
