18일 개봉과 함께 ‘변호인’(양우석 감독)은 11만9966 명의 관객을 동원해 일일 박스오피스 정상에 등극했다. 상영관 수는 591개 관. 이미 개봉 며칠 전부터 40% 이상의 압도적 예매율을 나타내면서 기대를 모아왔었다.
더구나 개봉 상영관 수가 적은 편인데도 이러한 결과를 낳은 것이라 눈길을 끈다. 같은 날 상영된 영화들을 살펴보면, 2위 ‘집으로 가는 길’(8만2014 명)이 691개 관, 4위 ‘호빗: 스마우그의 폐허’(7만3655 명)가 무려 705개 관을 차지하고 있다.
그럼에도 불구하고 ‘변호인’은 압도적 관객동원수로 정상 직행한 셈이다. 올해 흥행킹인 송강호의 열연에 김영애, 오달수, 임시완 등 여러 배우들의 호연, 여기에 고 노무현 대통령의 변호사 시절 맡았던 부림 사건을 영화화했다는 정치적 휘발성까지 내포하고 있는 영화답게 폭발적인 흥행 폭풍이 시작됐다.

‘The Attorney’ ranks No.1 on the first day of premiere overwhelmingly, even though the number of the theater is few.
‘The Attorney’ (director, Yang Woo Suk) mobilized 119,966 audience and ranked No.1 on its opening last December 18.
‘The Attorney’ which Song Gang Ho is a main actor gets the green light for a box office hit from the start.
The number of the theater is 591. It was already over 40% in ticket sales for the last few days of premiere, so it has been anticipated.
Moreover, although the number of theater is just few, as it caused a good result, it catches our eyes. According to other movies released on the same day, No.2 ’Way Back Home’ (82,014 audiences) is released in 691 theaters, No.4 ’The Hobbit:The Desolation of Smaug’ (73.655 audiences) is released in 705 theaters.
Song Gang Ho who is the king of a box office hit this year played his part enthusiastically and many actor and actress like Kim Young Ae, Oh Dal Su and Lim Si Wan and others did a good acting. Plus, it contains political nature that Bulim case which late President Roh Moo-Hyun took a brief when he was an attorney is made a movie. It began a box office hit explosively.
