강릉씨네마떼끄와 한국영상자료원이 공동주최하는 정동진독립영화제는 1999년 독립영화의 저변확대와 지역영상문화 활성화를 위해 시작된 영화제로 모든 작품을 야외에서 무료로 상영하는 것이 특징.
정동진독립영화제의 박광수 프로그래머는 “매년 그렇지만 올해도 낭만과 대안 그리고 야외상영이라는 정동진독립영화제만의 분위기와 잘 맞는 작품들을 선정하였다. 남녀노소를 막론하고 영화제를 찾는 모든 관객들이 함께 재미를 느끼며 관람할 수 있는 영화”라고 밝혔다.
정동진독립영화제는 8월2일부터 4일까지 2박3일간 강릉시 정동초등학교 운동장에서 개최된다. 모든 작품은 무료로 관람할 수 있다.

A paradise of movies, Come to Jeongdongjin Independent Film & Video Festival will open on August 2
The 15th Jeongdongjin Independent Film & Video Festival opens the official poster and 22 movies, which is a typical summer film festival at Gangreung, Gangwondo.
Gangreung cinema theque and Korean Film Archive will sponsor this festival. This festival was started to expand the base of independent movies and revitalize a national video culture. The key point of this festival is that all movies are free in the open air.
Park Gwang Soo, a programmer, said that he chose movies that fit in the atmosphere of the festival of which the themes are romance and substitution and also the outdoor screening will be this year too. The audience who will visit this festival regardless of their age and gender can enjoy the movies.
Jeongdongjin Independent Film & Video Festival will be held from August 2 to August 4 on the playground of Jeongdong Elementary School, Gangreungsi.
